CTC Project

The Harambee Communities that Care Project is in its tenth year of operation. The project is funded by the Safe and Drug-Free Communities Program of the Division of Criminal Justice Services, which administers the program from funds received from the U.S. Department of Education under the Safe and Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act of 1984.

Community residents were trained to conduct a risk and resource assessment of the community in order to determine the risk factors that plague our youth. The risk factors are in the family, community, school, and individual/peer domains. Data on various indicators of the different risk factors was collected. The Project is a collaboration between several key leaders in the community, with representatives from law enforcement, education, government, clergy, and social services.
