Mentor Coordinator – Re-Entry – Second Chance Mentoring
JOB LOCATION: Raleigh County
To empower previously incarcerated persons with the skills and resources that they need to successfully reintegrate in the community upon release from prison.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Works with WVDOC staff on participant transition into the community.
Works with participants to identify personal transition goals.
Matches mentors with participants.
Coordinate s participant services with state agencies and community-based organizations.
Investigates and notifies students of opportunities for offenders before release.
Collects program participant data.
Collects performance measurement data.
Adheres to all policies and procedures of KISRA.
Prepares program reports.
Demonstrates professionalism and self-control
Exhibits an attitude of mutual respect and tolerance
Demonstrates good work habits
Demonstrated effective writing and oral presentation skills
Demonstrates expertise in areas of responsibility
Demonstrates the ability to work and communicate effectively with WVDOC staff.
The clients’ personal information shall not be shared with anyone outside of KISRA without their signed consent. Violation of this confidentiality can result in corrective action, up to and including dismissal according to KISRA policy and procedures.
RESOURCES AND METHODS:
Employee must know how to use a Microsoft Windows-based computer and software applications needed to perform duties (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and the Internet). The individual must be familiar with the following office equipment: copier, fax machine, shredder, and scanner.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES:
Employee must be an excellent face to face and telephone communicator. Additionally, travel to attend meetings and conferences, as well as to develop and maintain strong networking relationships with collaborators is required.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS:
To perform this job successfully, the employee must be able to multi-task and perform each duty satisfactorily. The ability to analyze program information is required in order to prepare reports. The manager will have extensive knowledge in project management, supervision and employee development.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None
The employee reports to the Program Manager. A monthly program report on activities is required.
REVIEW PROCESS: Semi-annual and annual reviews will be conducted by the Program Manager.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in related field is required. At least three years of work experience in a similar position is required.
Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and thrive in an environment
with multiple priorities.
Strong work ethic.
Ability to function effectively with peers and other associates within a
demanding work environment.
Good analytical skills, basic business intuition and good common sense.
PERIPHERAL DUTIES: Assist in the implementation of conferences and meetings.

Any other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.
