Financial Fitness

  The goal of KISRA’s financial fitness services is to assist in the removal of barriers to wealth accumulation. Financial fitness services are:
  • Credit Counseling
  • Individual Development Accounts (IDAs)
  • Financial Literacy

Credit Counseling involves confidential credit report analysis, guidance on credit repair and debt management and spending plan development. This service is available free of charge to anyone who is interested in understanding their personal credit and improving it as well.

IDAs are special matched savings accounts designed to help families and individuals of modest means establish a pattern of regular saving and ultimately purchase a productive asset. Productive assets refer to a home, home repair, business or post-secondary education. Key IDA program elements are as follows:

  • Eligibility – 200% of federal poverty level; TANF recipient
  • At least $25 monthly savings
  • Regular financial fitness education and counseling
  • Participants are eligible for 8:1 match after one year of savings, for a maximum of $4,000 annually
